October 5, 2026 — Jamil Ahmadi, an athlete and Kung Fu coach from Sanandaj who previously spent 12 days in arbitrary detention in January 2021, is facing newly fabricated security charges of "propaganda against the system" following a recent summons, arrest, and interrogation by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Sanandaj.
An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating: "In September 2026, Jamil Ahmadi was detained for several hours by security forces at Intelligence Office 113 in Sanandaj, where he was subjected to violent interrogation. During interrogation, agents assured him that no formal case would be opened and that his matter would not be referred to court. However, in recent days, he was summoned to Branch 2 of the Interrogation Unit of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Sanandaj, where he was formally confronted with a fabricated security case charging him with 'propaganda against the system.'"
The source added that Jamil Ahmadi owns a sports club and works as a active athlete and Kung Fu coach.
Ahmadi has a prior history of arbitrary arrest. On January 23, 2021, he was arrested without a judicial warrant and transferred to an undisclosed location. After 12 days of arbitrary detention and interrogation at a security detention center in Sanandaj, he was released on February 3, 2021.
As of the publication of this report, the official pretexts for initiating this security case against Ahmadi remain unknown. Kept uninformed about the details of his legal proceedings, he continues to be deprived of access to legal representation.
