According to reports and photographic evidence delivered to Kurdpa, several retail stores and commercial units in Saqqez were officially sealed by the Public Places Supervision Office (Amaken) of the Saqqez Law Enforcement Command. Notices affixed to the storefronts read: "Sealed; This business unit has been sealed until further notice due to non-compliance with trade guild regulations."

On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, marking the fourth anniversary of the state-sanctioned killing of Zhina-Mahsa Amini, dozens of cities across four provinces—Kurdistan, West Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Ilam—joined a general strike following calls by Kurdish political parties, defying an atmosphere of intense militarization and official state threats. Saqqez, Sanandaj, Mahabad, and Bukan experienced the most comprehensive commercial shutdowns. Concurrently, state authorities attempted to suppress the demonstrations by deploying heavy military and security personnel, blockading access roads to Aichi Cemetery, barring families of slain protesters from visiting gravesites, intimidating shop owners, and broadcasting threatening SMS messages to merchants.
