August 17, 2026; Over the past few days, "Shiva Zarei", a Kurdish activist and journalist from Buin Zahra in Qazvin province, was formally charged in a new fabricated case with "propaganda against the system", "insulting the Supreme Leader", and "inciting rioting and killing due to saying no to execution", and was released on a 2 billion Toman bail after being summoned. She had previously been sentenced to a cash fine in another case.

An informed source confirmed this news to Kurdpa, stating: On August 10, 2026, "Shiva Zarei", a Kurdish activist and journalist from Qazvin, was summoned to Branch 1 of the Interrogation Unit of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Buin Zahra County in Qazvin Province and formally charged in a new fabricated case with "propaganda against the system", "insulting the Supreme Leader", and "opposing execution by posting 'No to Execution' Instagram stories, which was interpreted as inciting killing and rioting", and was subsequently released on a two billion Toman bail.

According to Kurdpa's source, this new case was fabricated while Shiva Zarei was denied the right to a lawyer even after being summoned to this interrogation branch and formally charged, depriving her of legal representation. Additionally, Ms. Zarei previously had another case against which she filed an appeal, and the response to that appeal has not yet been issued.

Kurdpa had previously reported that the hearing for the charge against "Shiva Zarei" was held on June 9, 2026, in Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Qazvin County on charges of "propaganda against the system through reposting stories on Instagram", and in recent days, a sentence ordering a cash fine of 50 million Tomans for this charge was issued and served to her. The issuance of this verdict occurred in line with ongoing pressure applied against this Kurdish activist; she has been repeatedly subjected to pressure, all her bank accounts were blocked without prior notice, and her mobile phone was confiscated without a legal warrant since January 2026 and was not returned to her for months.
