Marivan; Dana Lanjabadi, a civil activist, was arrested by security forces

On March 20, 2024, Dana Lanjabadi, a civil activist and former political prisoner from Marivan, was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to the intelligence detention center of this city.

An informed source told Kurdpa: On February 22, 2024, Mr. Lanjabadi was transferred from the intelligence detention center of Marivan to the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office of this city and after being informed of the charge of "propaganda against the system", he was issued a temporary arrest warrant for one month and returned to the intelligence detention center of Marivan.

Another informed source told Kurdpa: This civil activist had to live secretly in recent months due to the pressure of security agencies and efforts to arrest him.

Dana Lanjabadi was arrested in 2012 after a sit-in by students of Payam Noor University of Marivan in protest of the execution of three Kurdish political prisoners and was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Marivan to one year in prison for the charge of "propaganda against the system" and to eight months in prison and 50 lashes for the charge of "disrupting public order".

This civil activist was also deprived of continuing his education at Payam Noor University by the pressure of the intelligence department of Marivan.

Dana Lanjabadi was active in the fields of civil, environmental, and journalism activities and was one of the reporters of the Mukrian News Agency.
