Suleiman Abdi was transferred to Saqqez prison to serve his sentence

On March 4, 2024, Suleiman Abdi, a member of the Kurdistan Teachers' Trade Association - Saqqez, was transferred to the central prison of Saqqez to serve his sentence.

Previously, this trade activist had been sentenced to eight months of correctional imprisonment by the Saqqez Revolutionary Court on charges of "propaganda against the system".

On July 17, 2024, this trade activist of teachers was also sentenced to eight months of correctional imprisonment and 70 lashes of correctional flogging by Branch 105 of the Criminal Court of Saqqez on charges of "disrupting public order and security by participating in an illegal gathering in Aichi Cemetery".

The court converted the eight months of imprisonment of this trade activist of teachers to 720 hours of teaching to the people of the Relief Committee and suspended his 70 lashes of correctional flogging for two years.

On April 10, 2023, this member of the Kurdistan Teachers' Trade Association - Saqqez was released from Saqqez prison temporarily until the end of the judicial proceedings by depositing a bail of 200 million tomans.

On April 5, 2023, Mr. Abdi was transferred to Saqqez prison after completing the interrogation process from the detention center of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office.

On March 19, 2023, Suleiman Abdi was arrested by security forces without presenting a judicial verdict and transferred to the detention center of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office for interrogation.

Security forces confiscated the mobile phone of this trade activist and his family members and took them with them during the search of his house.

In September 2022, a ban on the prosecution of Suleiman Abdi was issued by the second branch of the judiciary of the General and Revolutionary Court of Saqqez.

On Thursday, June 15, 2022, this trade activist was arrested by security forces and was released from Saqqez prison temporarily until the end of the judicial proceedings by depositing bail on Sunday, June 25 of the same year.
