Urmia; Shahin Vasaf was sentenced to death for "spying for Israel"

Shahin Vasaf, a Kurdish citizen from Salmas living in Urmia, was sentenced to death by the third branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia for "spying for Israel" after a year of detention.

The verdict of the first court was communicated to this 27-year-old citizen in Urmia Central Prison on October 3, 2023.

Shahin Vasaf was arrested on September 21, 2022, along with another citizen named "Naser Vasaf" by security forces at his family home without a judicial warrant and transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center for interrogation.

These two citizens were physically and mentally tortured for several months in the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center to make forced confessions and accept the charge of "spying for Israel".

These two citizens were transferred to Urmia prison after the completion of the interrogation stages and Naser Vasaf was released from prison after more than a year of imprisonment.

The hearing of the charges of these two citizens was held in the third branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia without the presence of a lawyer.
