Arrest of a Kurdish social activisms in Sanandaj

Kurdpa Agency: A Kurdish social activisms from Sanandaj was arrested in Feyzabad neighborhood and transferred to the Intelligence Detention Center.

According to a report released by the Kurdistan Press Agency on Monday, August 20th, a Kurdish social activist named \"Akbar Gaweli\" from Sanandaj was arrested by intelligence forces.

This activist was arrested on his way back from Tehran to Sanandaj in Feyzabad neighborhood and transferred to Sanandaj Ettelaat Detention Center.

The headquarters of the Sanandaj Ettelaat Bureau on Thursday, August 22nd, asked the family of this social activisms to come to the Bureau to hand over his personal stuff.

Akbar Gaweli also announced a hunger strike at Sanandaj Ettelaat Detention Center in a brief phone call with his family.

On Monday, January 28th, 2019, after being summoned to the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, this social activisms was transferred to the central prison of the city to serve four months imprisonment.

Akbar Gaweli was summoned and arrested by the intelligence headquarters of the city in March 2016 after helding of Nowruz ceremony in the village of \"Ghasarian\" in Sanandaj. He was released on bail of 150 million Toman after two days of detention.

This Kurdish social activist was sentenced to one year in prison by the First district of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj on charges of \"propaganda against the regime\" and after appealing against the verdict, his case was referred to district 2 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeal and his prison sentence was reduced to four months.
